Charges have been laid against a 27-year-old man from Campbellford after a Quinte West OPP officer was injured while responding to a collision.
Quinte West OPP, as well as as Hastings-Quinte Paramedics and Quinte West Firefighters, responded to River Drive near Fish and Game Club Road just after noon on Saturday.
A vehicle had left the road and rolled over. Both occupants of the vehicle had managed to get out.
According to police, a male passenger from the vehicle had been aggressive with first responders.
During efforts to take the individual into custody, an OPP officer suffered an injury that required hospital treatment.
The man, who was not identified by police, has been charged with the following:
- Assaulting a peace officer
- Resisting a peace officer
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 11, 2024.
The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe move – lane or shoulder.
