Prince Edward County planning committee has approved a rezoning request for the former Picton Legion property on Picton Main Street during Wednesday’s planning and development committee meeting.
The new zoning is for a hotel, with plans to renovate the property to have 20 units.
The proposed conversion includes a three-storey addition on the south side of the building, and an expansion of the ground floor to house a lobby, reception and administration area.
The Picton Legion, Branch 78, sold the property in 2017 after they found they could no longer afford to maintain the building with declining membership. The building had housed the branch for 69 years, since 1948.
The application was forwarded to Prince Edward County Council for final approval.
