Belleville police responded to 81 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on June 17, 2024 to 5 a.m. on June 18, 2024.
Shoplifting leads to arrest
On June 17, 2024 at 7:24 p.m., Belleville police responded to a business on Bell Blvd regarding a shoplifting incident. The store Loss Prevention Officer had arrested the female suspect for theft. When police arrived, they learned that the female was wanted on two unendorsed arrest warrants for charges of failing to appear in court, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, failing to comply with an undertaking and three counts of breaching her probation. Lori Betts, 57 years old of Belleville, was arrested on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing. Betts was also issued a trespass notice for the business on Bell Blvd.
Stolen Vehicle
On June 17, 2024 at 2:38 p.m., Belleville police were called to a business on Dundas St. East for a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner had parked the car and attended a nearby appointment. Upon her return, the vehicle had been stolen. The stolen vehicle is a 2017 grey Nissan Rogue with Ontario licence plate CRDY 616.
