With the fate of the Athol Town Hall still undecided, one local resident made her voice heard in the Prince Edward County council chamber.
Athol resident Nicola Chapman gave a deputation before council during its Tuesday meeting, advocating against a proposal to offer daycare services out of the town hall building during the day.
Chapman offered a long list of reasons not to go through with the proposal, with one of the major arguments being that it would adversely impact the recreation committee and women’s institute who currently make use of the space.
Instead of offering child care from the town hall, Chapman suggested the service should instead be offered from the Queen Elizabeth School property.
Council accepted the deputation, but took no action.
