The Municipal Accomodation Tax has brought in some major funding for Prince Edward County.
During Tuesday’s council meeting, councillors recieved an update on MAT taxes collected in 2023.
During the year, $1,568,466 was collected through MAT with a total revenue, after associated administration costs, of $1,455,992.
The revenue was split 50/50, with half being kept by the municipality and the other half going to Stay PEC and Visit the County, as per previous agreements.
Municipal Accomodation Tax is a tax specifically on short-term rentals, hotel rooms, and other accommodations aimed at visitors to the area.
