A Bayside Secondary School student was on the podium at the recent Skills Canada competition in Quebec City.
Ian Ketcheson, a grade 12 student, won silver in welding at the competition held on May 30 and 31.
He qualified for the national competition by winning gold at the Ontario Skills competition held earlier in May in Toronto.
This was Ketcheson’s third and final time competing at the national level, and his second medal.
Ketcheson will be going to college in the fall to pursue a career in the skilled trades.
