Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man for driving an excavator while impaired.
Police received a report of a golf cart and heavy machinery being driven in the area of Main Street in Deseronto just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
When officers attended the area, they spotted an excavator being operated in a field near First Street, with a golf cart parked nearby.
Officers spoke to the driver and and he was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
Twenty-year-old Andrew Maracle of Deseronto was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver – BAC above zero
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 25, 2024.
