Tyendinaga Township and the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte are teaming up on a pilot project.
Salmon River Road runs between Old Highway 2 and Milltown Road, with both the MBQ and the township sharing joint maintenance.
Officials with both communities met to discuss the amount of waste being discarded along the road, indicating it is reached unprecedented amounts.
They have described it is alarming in quantity and to a point that is overwhelming municipal resources.
Both communities have agreed to deter motorists from using Salmon River Road as a dumping spot, which will include temporary cement barricades and signage.
The pilot project will be reevaluated in the fall.
