Ontario’s police watchdog says there’s no basis to charge a Northumberland OPP officer, after they shot a suspect in February.
According to the Special Investigations Unit report, officers were called to a home in the Colborne area, and were confronted by a man holding a rifle. After the man shot at police, the officer shot the man, hitting him in the abdomen.
The man was treated for his injury at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg.
After investigating, the SIU says they found no reason to charge the officer with a crime.
