The public is invited to help complete a special exhibit at the Quinte Arts Council Cultural Hub, part of the the Bay of Quinte Pride celebrations.
QAC’s Executive Director, Janet Jarrell says local artist Luisé Cisneros, has created an Ofrenda.
“And it’s a Mexican altar that celebrates the lives who are no longer with us. Particularly, this installation will focus on those who have been affected with the challenges and struggles for the LGBTQ+ community.”
The Ofrenda will be on display until mid-July and over the next several weeks, the community is encouraged to contribute to it.
“Then the community is invited to participate by adding an image, a photo, of someone that they know that has been affected by any of the struggles of the LGBTQ community.”
Images (copies only – no originals, 4” x 6” to a maximum size of 8″ x 10″) will be accepted at Quinte Arts Council as long as the exhibit is on, until the middle of July.
The exhibit opening will be held Thursday, June 6 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the QAC Cultural Hub at 36 Bridge Street East, Belleville and will feature a performance by Cisneros.
