The City of Belleville’s Planning Committee has approved redesignating land at 84 Cannifton Road North from Commercial Land Use to Residential Land Use.
The proposal calls for a warehouse and a commercial building on the site to be torn down, which would be conducive to building three one-unit detached dwellings and six one-unit semi-detached dwellings. An existing two-unit dwelling would remain on the site.
In a report to the committee, after a review of the historical land use of the area, and consulting with local property owners, city staff recommended the entire block of land be redesignated Residential Land Use.
An official plan amendment will be brought forward by city staff at a future meeting.
