Belleville police responded to 92 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on May 27, 2024 to 5 a.m. on May 28, 2024.
Domestic Assault and Public Intoxication Arrests
On May 28, 2024 at 1:40 a.m., Belleville police were called to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute. Officers arrived on scene and were met with two intoxicated parties. The pair were in a relationship and it was determined that the involved male party had assaulted the female party. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with domestic assault. The 21-year-old female victim continued to cause issues outside the residence and after multiple warnings the female was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The male was released on an undertaking with a court date in July. The female was charged with public intoxication and will be released when sober.

Family dispute leads to arrest for assault
On May 27, 2024 at 10:30 p.m., Belleville police responded to a family dispute at a residence in the city’s east end. Officers arrived on scene and learned that during a physical altercation between two brothers, their father had attempted to intervene and was assaulted by one of his sons resulting in minor injuries. As a result, the 29-year-old son of no fixed address was arrested for assault. The male was transported to the Belleville Police Service and held for a bail hearing.
