Five local students are making their final preparations for the upcoming Canada-Wide Science Fair, scheduled to take place from May 26 to June 1. These young scientists have been working tirelessly on their projects, aiming to make a significant impact in the world of science.
The five students from Bayside Secondary School, Eastside Secondary School and Albert College are excited to represent their region at the national level. They are looking forward to the opportunity to share their projects with the broader scientific community and to learn from their peers from across Canada.
The projects cover a wide range of scientific disciplines, from energy, and biology, to computer science. Each project showcases the students’ creativity, critical thinking skills, and their ability to apply scientific principles to solve real-world problems.
Isabella Guan’s “The Sound Catcher 2.0″ examines and demonstrates a novel way of harvesting energy. “Net Zero Commute” by Surya Narayan Santhakumar, is an app that explores ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Seol So’s project, “The Third Eye” is a browser extension designed to assist individuals with limited vision in accessing the internet. “Mold: Friend or Foe?” by Ella James and Grace Baker examines the role of mold in the creation of transit routes.
The Canada-Wide Science Fair is a prestigious event that gathers the brightest young minds from across the country. It provides a platform for students to showcase their scientific achievements and to compete for scholarships and other awards.
