Officers with Project Renewal seized almost $80,000 worth of illegal drugs and arrested 30 people in 10 separate investigations in the first three months of the year.
A report to the Belleville Police Services Board shows the drugs seized included fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, percocets, oxycodone, and magic mushrooms.
Close to $11,000 cash was also seized, along with a handgun, two tasers, and pepper spray in the first quarter.
The Belleville Police Service ended 2023 with a surplus, albeit a small one. The department spent just over almost $23.6 million, or 99.87 per cent of its operating budget last year.
That left a close to $30,000 surplus.
Meanwhile in first quarter of this year the police service has spent just over $6 million, or 23 per cent of its operating budget.
