The search will soon begin for a new Chief of Police for the Belleville Police Service.
Thursday the Police Services Board selected the head-hunting firm Governedge to handle the search.
Former Chief Mike Callaghan retired at the end of April and Acting Chief Chris Barry tells Quinte News hiring outside specialists to hire police leaders is nothing unusual.
“It’s a normal process to try to cast the net as wide as you possibly can and they also assist the board in narrowing down the applications and picking those applicants that they think the board should look at more closely,” Barry tell Quinte News.
The only other firm looked at for the work was Rubicon.
Governedge will charge a flat fee of $25,000 plus HST and charge for some expenses such as travel and pre-approved advertising.
