A new accessible beach mat has been set up at Wellington Rotary Beach.
The Mobi-Mat makes it easier for people using wheelchairs, families with strollers, and others to access the water.
Two floating beach wheelchairs, also known as Mobi-Chairs, will be available for people who require them.
The equipment was unveiled at the beach on Wednesday.
Funding for the equipment comes from the Wellington Rotary Club which identified the project as one of its goals.
Rotary Club members fundraised and garnered financial support from other Rotary Clubs in the area and a grant from Rotary District 7070.
“This project supports the County of Prince Edward’s commitment to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all residents and visitors,” says Ken Robertson, past-president of the Wellington Rotary Club. “Our members are incredibly proud to take the lead on this project, which aligns with the Rotary Club’s desire to further diversity, equity and inclusion.”
