More than 100 enthusiastic youth from around the region learned more about skilled trades Wednesday at the Skills Ontario Trades & Tech Truck event in Quinte West.
The Quinte Economic Development Commission, in partnership with local school boards, Skills Ontario, and the City of Quinte West, organized a day filled with immersive learning experiences including the Tech Truck, a mobile unit dedicated to providing hands-on exploration of skilled trades and technologies.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with a variety of activities and simulators, gaining invaluable insights into potential career paths in these fields.
QEDC CEO Chris King says they are thrilled with the event’s overwhelming success. “It was inspiring to see so many young people eager to explore the world of skilled trades and technologies. We extend our gratitude to all the participating companies and organizations for their invaluable support.”
In addition to the engaging activities provided by the Skills Ontario Trades & Tech Truck, participating companies Kruger Products, Research Casting International, and FDF Racing hosted students, showcasing the application of various trades and technologies in use by local manufacturers and the importance of these skills to their various industries.
King says the event’s impact extends beyond a single day, as attendees gained valuable insights and inspiration for their future career paths.
