The City of Belleville is seeking input from stakeholders for the 2025 Capital and Operating budget process.
The Capital Budget is the city’s plan for large investments in infrastructure and services, including items like major maintenance to public buildings, construction or purchase of new buildings, purchase of major equipment, significant road resurfacing projects, water and wastewater infrastructure, and more.
The operating budget is the city’s plan for the day-to-day costs required to deliver all city services to constituents.
Expenses include road maintenance, snow removal, transit operations, garbage collection, recreational programming, park upkeep, health & social services, and more.
A preliminary budget survey has been released that is meant to provide feedback on spending priorities and the overall approach to budget development.
Survey submissions will be open until June 5.
Results from the survey will be presented to the finance committee and to council to help develop guidelines to prepare the draft budgets.
Those guidelines will then be used to develop and finalize the draft budgets.
Once those draft budgets are finalized, there will be two more surveys issued to gather public input.
