Brighton council is moving ahead to set up an automated speed enforcement program for speed control
in Community Safety Zones.
Monday council approved a revised agreement with a software company, Dacra Tech Canada, to provide confirmation, administration, and payment systems for traffic tickets issued to speeders through the mail.
Also, a project implementation committee will be formed.
Initially Brighton will have two automated speed cameras monitoring both directions on Elizabeth Street (Old Highway 2) near the public and high schools.
It’s hoped the system will come online in July but the public will be given ample notice before it goes live.
