Northumberland OPP is warning of a recent scam that has resurfaced in the area.
Recently, the public have reported being flagged down by individuals appearing to be in distress or requesting money for gas or other reasons such as losing their wallet.
Locations vary from Highway 401 ramps to county and municipal roadways.
People will offer jewellery in exchange for cash with some scammers even laying jewellery on the seat so as to pressure the motorist.
Unfortunately the jewelleery is fake.
Police say if you find yourself in this position, decline the offer, remove yourself from the situation and contact police.
Contact police if you believe you’ve been a victim of fraud.
