Belleville council could decide on a policy outlined at helping its staff deal with unruly behaviour at city-owned facilities and sanctioned events at its meeting Monday.
Staff is proposing implementing a so called “RZone Policy” due to a noticeable rise in inappropriate behaviour at facilities, parks, and city events.
The policy details several steps staff can take in dealing with unruly behaviour, ranging from warnings, temporary and permanent bans from facilities, and asking for police involvement.
Also, council will decide whether or not to allow a new housing development at Sidney Street and Bell Boulevard Monday.
City staff are recommending council remove a hold on property right beside a now under construction 160-bed long-term care home on the large vacant property just west of No Frills.
Staff believes the 34 townhouses proposed for the property beside the retirement home can be serviced and recommend the work be allowed to go ahead.
And council will be asked to approve a $10,000 incentive package for a new Nurse Practitioner at its meeting Monday and to increase the physician recruitment budget.
Madison Chamberlain has applied for the incentive and recently began taking patients at the Belleville Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic.
Staff says there isn’t enough in its recruitment budget to provide the incentive and is asking council approve increasing the budget by $350,000 using money from its Elexicon reserve fund.
Council meets at City Hall at 4 o’clock Monday.
