The East Region Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police has arrested a male in connection with a suspected drone drop of contraband items at Millhaven Penitentiary.
On May 9, 2024 at approximately 7:30, police were made aware of a drone drop that was completed. A cellular phone, cannabis, hash, and tobacco were recovered.
At approximately 9 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on a rental vehicle from Quebec on Bath Road just east of Bath. There was one man in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. Search of the vehicle revealed five cellular phones and a receipt detailing the purchase of SIM cards, and activation of SIM cards.
As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Sebastien Claude of Montreal, was arrested and charged with:
- Distribute over 30g of dried cannabis
- Mischief – interfere with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property – under $5000
- Conspiracy to commit indictable offence
- Delivers contraband to, or receives contraband from an inmate
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.
