Ontario has announced $387,200 in funding for Hastings and Prince Edward counties for mobile mental health services.
According to a press release from the province, the funding supports a mobile community-based withdrawal management clinic that goes into rural and underserved areas.
The mobile clinic will connect people to a team of service providers that will travel directly to their communities.
It also works with additional services and programs already provided by the Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward (CMHA HPE) such as community case management, high-support housing, and psychotherapy.
CMHA HPE will oversee the operation of the mobile clinic.
“Transportation can be a barrier to people receiving the help they need. Through our investment in mobile service delivery, the Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward can meet people where they’re at to offer withdrawal management and increased access to other mental health and addictions supports within their communities,” said Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith in a release.
Funding for the clinic comes from the province’s Addictions Recovery Fund.
