Patients at the future Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be able to benefit from a new CT Scanner, due to a large donation from a pair of Picton residents.
Norm Ritchie and Monique Postlewaite of Picton have donated $500,000 towards the purchase of the scanner.
The donation was made as part of the Back the Build campaign, and brings the total raised for the scanner to $2.6 million. The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is hoping to raise the rest of the needed funds with the Bid for the Build art auction, on June 1.
A CT scanner allows doctors to see inside the body using a combination of X-rays and computer images to create pictures of organs, bones, and other tissues. Having a CT scanner at the new PECMH will provide timely access to critical diagnostic health services for residents of Prince Edward County.
Currently, patients must travel to other facilities to receive a CT scan, over 2,150 times annually.
