Sobeys says it has no plans to rebuild its grocery store that was destroyed by fire in Colborne last year.
The Foodland store on Toronto Road caught fire on May 24, 2023 causing $1 million damage.
There were no injuries caused by the fire.
Today’s Northumberland is reporting that Sobeys Manager of Corporate Affairs Sarah Dawson has stated the company has no plans to open another store in the community.
An email states that it was not a decision made lightly but that reopening the store is not a viable option due to many contributing factors.
The company says some employees have already transitioned to other stores within their network and they are committed to supporting remaining employees as they transition to new opportunities.
