As widely predicted, gas prices have jumped dramatically over the past several hours.
One driver says gas was as high as $1.74 a litre for regular at a Petro-Can in Belleville earlier this morning.
And gasbuddy.com reports the same prices at some stations in Trenton.
Reasons cited for the steep increases are global turmoil, the carbon tax increase, and the switch from cheaper winter gas to more expensive summer fuel blends.
