The number of people collecting employment insurance in the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area is trending upward.
Statistics Canada reports that in February, 1,220 people received financial support through the program, up by 30 from January.
And on a year-over-year basis, the number of people receiving employment insurance in February increased by 170 from February of 2023.
The Belleville Census Metropolitan Area includes Belleville, Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon, and Tyendinaga-Deseronto.
