A new bus has been delivered and is being added to the Belleville Transit fleet this week.
The new 12-metre electric/diesel hybrid bus will mark the start of a transition away from diesel-powered buses.
Because it’s a hybrid, the bus does not require any charging infrastructure – the battery will charge under diesel power while the bus is in use.
Belleville council approved the purchase of the bus from Nova Canada at a cost of $983,000 plus HST last fall.
A Battery Electric Bus Feasibility Study for Belleville Transit is currently ongoing.
