Lennox and Addington OPP have laid multiple charges on a man following a road rage incident.
Police were called shortly before 8 p.m. on Sunday to County Road 4 by Highway 401 in Loyalist Township on a report of road rage where a man had pointed a hand gun at the caller and fired a shot at their vehicle.
The caller believed the firearm was a BB gun but could not verify.
Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle a short time later, arresting a male driver and seizing what ended up being a BB gun.
Fifty-six-year-old Daniel Vanderwerf of Stone Mills was charged with the following:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Pointing a firearm
- Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
- Discharge air gun or pistol with intent
- Dangerous driving
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 18, 2024.
