The Trenton Golden Hawks enjoy winning conference championships on the road.
For the fourth time, all of them on the road, (2015-16 Kingston, 2016-17 Cobourg, 2022-23 Wellington, 2023-24 Cobourg), the Trenton Golden Hawks have won the Eastern Conference Championship.
Adam O’Marra had three assists to lead the Hawks over the Cobourg Cougars 3-1 in Game 6 Sunday.
Ben Pickell, Jamie Darlison, and Lucas Lapalm scored for Trenton, while Ben Bonisteel made 21 saves.
O’Marra says Cobourg put Trenton through adversity in the series.
“I’m really proud of the guys, cause we found a way to win. Cobourg taking us to six games I think is big for us, gives us that confidence that we can play deep into a series, ’cause the first two we won in four.”

O’Marra will face his former team for the second straight time in the final, the Collingwood Blues.
“Our motto is we have unfinished business. We were here last year, we know how good of a team Collingwood is, but also we trust our guys too and our coaching. We’re just going to do whatever it takes to win.”
Head Coach Derek Smith says he is very proud of his players.
“Super proud of the guys. It’s been a long year and quite the journey, guys have really come together. To be able to respond to some adversity that we’ve had in the playoffs and especially this series and to come out tonight and close it on the road, it’s a pretty awesome feeling and I know the guys are super excited for what’s next.”
The Nutrafarms OJHL Championship Series between Collingwood and Trenton will start this coming weekend.
Schedule details will be released by the teams and the OJHL later Monday.
