Belleville police responded to 95 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on April 9, 2024 to 5 a.m. on April 10, 2024.
Employee Assaulted
On April 9, 2024 at 8 p.m., Belleville police were called to the bus terminal on Pinnacle Street regarding a disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and learned that a female had assaulted an employee and smashed a window on the property before leaving the scene. The employee suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault. Officers located the female on Front Street and she was arrested. It was learned that the female was currently on a probation order and was also wanted on outstanding warrants from another police service. As a result, the 41-year-old female of no fixed address was charged with assault, mischief and breaching her probation. She is being held for a bail hearing on April 10, 2024.
Traffic stop results in several charges
On April 9, 2024 at 4:50 p.m., a member of the Belleville Police Traffic Safety Unit attempted to stop a vehicle on Dundas Street West. The vehicle initially failed to pull over for the officer, ignoring the activated emergency equipment on the cruiser. The driver eventually stopped and was arrested. It was determined that the driver was suspended, there was no insurance on the vehicle and the vehicle had expired plates attached. As a result of the investigation, the 43-year-old female driver from Prince Edward County was charged with failing to stop, driving while suspended, driving with no insurance and using expired plates. The driver was released on multiple summons and given a traffic court date in June.
Breach of Release Order
On April 9, 2024 at 8 p.m., Belleville police were called to a Palmer Road apartment building regarding a female who was breaching her release conditions. Officers arrived on scene and learned that the female, who had been released on bail conditions a few days prior for harassing her neighbours within the building, was causing issues again which was a breach of her release conditions. As a result, the 45-year-old female from Belleville was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
