The Belleville Senators shut out the Springfield Thunderbirds 3-0 on Friday night at the CAA Arena.
Tyler Kleven, Zack Ostapchuk, and Cole Reinhardt scored for the Sens, while goaltender Kevin Mandolese made 25 saves for his first career AHL shutout.
The Senators got off to an agressive start, outshooting the Thunderbirds 14 to 5 in the first period, and picking up an early goal. During the second, they extended their lead with a second goal, while keeping the Thunderbirds from getting on the board at all. During the third period, a final goal extended the Senators’ lead even further, and left them with the win.
Belleville Sens Goaltender Kevin Mandolese was proud of his first shutout in the AHL.
“It feels good. Now that it’s out of my mind I can just go on and play games without having it on my mind. But I’m just happy we were able to get the two points because we’re in the playoff push and every game is important right now,” said Mandolese
The Senators are back in action on Saturday night to host the Syracuse Crunch.
