The City of Belleville, along with police, fire and Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services, are warning the public about the potential for traffic delays on Monday during the total solar eclipse.
Traffic is expected to be increased over the day due to visitors seeking to view the eclipse, which can potentially lead to delays or even gridlock.
Belleville police are encouraging residents to observe the eclipse from their own communities if possible, to reduce the amount of traffic and help keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
For those driving to viewing areas, residents are reminded to leave extra time for travel and to expect delays. Residents are also asked not to park on the street to view the eclipse, and to park in parking lots instead to keep the roads clear.
