One person has been charged after a search warrant was executed at a home in Tyendinaga Township.
Just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the OPP’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement squad attended a home on Queen Street in search of a male who was breaching his conditions.
Police say the man fled the scene carrying a machete.
After a brief chase on foot, the man was arrested without incident and the machete was seized.
Lennox & Addington County OPP, along with the East Region Community Street Crime Unit, then executed a search warrant at the home.
Police were able to locate a loaded shotgun, two rifles, a prohibited magazine and various ammunition.
Thirty-six-year-old Joseph Dunkley of Tyendinaga Township was charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm – three counts
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition – three counts
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm – three counts
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with release order – other than attend court – five counts
- Mischief under $5000
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order – seven counts
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number had been tampered with
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.
