Charges have been laid after Quinte West OPP followed up on a report of drug use.
OPP received the report of drug use on King Street in Trenton around 4 p.m. on Monday.
Officers located the person who they say provided a fake name to police.
Once the person was identified, police determined the man was wanted by Cobourg Police.
A subsequent arrest and search led to the seizure of suspected crystal methamphetamine and morphine.
Thirty-three-year-old Joseph Veleke of Quinte West was charged with the following:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 19, 2024.
The man was then transported to the Cobourg Police Service for the execution of the warrant.
