Demolition began on the former Royal Canadian Legion building in downtown Belleville on Monday.
The building is being torn down to create extra parking space for the Memorial Market Place project.
Legion Branch 99 has since moved to the former Shrine Club building located on Highland Avenue.
Taskforce Engineering won the bid to redevelop Memorial Arena and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 99 building in November 2019 but work didn’t get underway until 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
No timeline has been provided on how long the demolition of the building will take.
