The Laval Rocket defeated the Belleville Senators 2-1 on Friday night.
Egor Sokolov scored for the Sens.
Laval scored an early lead with a goal at 2:30 in the first period. The Sens would grab their only goal of the night later in the frame, to carry a 1-1 tie into the second. During the second period the Rocket found the back of the net again, and were able to keep the Senators at bay, before persisting through a scoreless third to win the game.
Belleville Sens Head Coach Dave Bell said that the team is still putting in a strong effort.
“I thought we had our chances, but we couldn’t score. It’s a tale that’s been repeating itself quite regularly now, we just can’t score,” said Coach Bell. “I mean, guys care about each other, they care about the team, they just can’t get one behind the goalies.”
The Sens will clash with the Rocket again this afternoon at Place Bell. The puck drops at 3 p.m.
