Hastings Prince Edward Public Health says there have been six suspected drug-related deaths in Hastings and Prince Edward counties between February 25 and March 16.
The health unit is urging those who take drugs to take all available precautions to avoid drug poisonings.
These are the following recommendations to reduce the risk.
- Don’t use drugs alone.
- Have a plan. Ask a person who you trust to stay with you or check on you.
- Start with a small amount to see how you react.
- Always carry one or more naloxone kits.
If you must use alone, use an overdose prevention service such as the National Overdose Response Service by calling 1-888-688-NORS (6677).
Once again, there is a warning of a toxic and volatile local supply of unregulated drugs.
