The Trenton Golden Hawks trimmed the Toronto Junior Canadiens 4-1 to go up 2-0 in their OJHL East Conference semi-final.
A three-goal second period was the difference in the game.
Barret Joynt scored twice with singles from Lucas Lapalm and Ben Pickell.
Ben Bonsteel stopped 28 shots.
Game 3 is in Trenton Tuesday night at 7:30.
Cougars lead St. Mikes-Hoskin leads the league
In the other East Conference semi final the Cobourg Cougars lead the St. Mikes Buzzers 2-0 with Game 3 Tuesday in Toronto.
Belleville native Trevor Hoskin leads the OJHL in playoff scoring with 5 goals and 9 assists in 14 games.
Hoskin has had points in all of the Cougars post season games to date.
He led the OJHL in scoring with 100 points this season.
Culhane commits
Belleville native Lucas Culhane has committed NCAA Neumann University in the fall.
Culhane has just completed his third season in the CCHL.
He scored 24 goals and 51 points in 55 games with the Smiths Falls Bears.
Neumann University is located in Aston Pennsylvania.
