A dozen grants have been issued so far under the city’s new Tourism Grant Program.
The program, in a new form, was approved last year and provides annual one-time funding to eligible events up to $10,000.
At Monday’s meeting, city council approved approximately $55,000 for 10 events to be held this year.
Among the events receiving funding are Quinte Arts Council’s Quinte en Plein Air, the Jazz Festival, Downtown Blues Festival and Caribbean Festival.
Two pre-approvals for 2025 events were also granted with that money to come from next year’s fund.
Some of the events are receiving funding to directly help with the event while others are receiving the equivalent of municipal resources such as waiving fees for location rentals or use of municipally-owned equipment.
There is still $35,000 of the program’s 2024 funding available.
A second round of applications will open in June.
