It may be spring according to the calendar but winter isn’t quite finished with us yet.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for five to ten centimetres of snow, starting Friday afternoon and lasting into early Saturday with higher amounts possible for areas near Lake Ontario.
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
Significant snowfall possible Friday afternoon into Friday night.
Hazards: 5 to 10 cm of snow, with locally higher amounts possible. Reduced visibility in areas of heavier snow.
Timing: Beginning Friday afternoon and ending early Saturday morning.
Discussion: Light snow is expected to begin Friday afternoon, but should intensify in the evening. The snow should taper off from west to east late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Confidence in exact snowfall amounts at this point is low, although many areas may receive 5 to 10 cm of snow. Note that even higher amounts are possible for areas near Lake Ontario.
Winter weather travel advisories and snowfall warnings may be issued for some areas as the event draws nearer.
