Belleville police have sent out an update on a grey Ford Ranger that was reported stolen from a home in Plainfield.
Police began an investigation into the reported theft on Monday.
On Tuesday, the owner contacted the investigator and said that they made an honest mistake and had forgotten the vehicle was left at a friend’s place and was not actually stolen.
The owner apologized to police for the inconvenience and the time the officer spent on the matter.
Police have concluded the investigation.
