An over a year-long upward trend in the numbers of people using Belleville Transit buses has come to an end.
In both January and February the number of people riding buses went down considerably from the same two months last year.
Director of Transportation and Operations Services Joe Reid says it’s likely Mother Nature had a lot to do with the drop in passengers.
“We really believe it has to do with people getting out and being active, because we haven’t had the winter, they’ve been able to get out and not be impacted by weather conditions.”
Last month Belleville Transit had a total of almost 104,000 riders. In February of last year the total was over 131,000.
