If you’re planning on attending Brighton’s popular Applefest in September don’t bring your dog with you.
On Monday, Brighton council approved a by-law banning pets at Applefest events, including the big parade on Main Street.
Mayor Brian Ostrander tells Quinte News that pets have always been discouraged at the event but it seemed time to make it official.
“It’s dangerous for children and people and it’s dangerous for the pets. You know dogs should not be wandering around where there are 20,000 people.”
Ostrander says although fines could be levied, police and by-law enforcement personnel will issue warnings before resorting to them.
