The Trenton Golden Hawks experienced the ecstacy of a last second victory. However, for the Wellington Dukes, it was the agony of a last second defeat.
In Toronto, Ethan Lindsay broke a 3-3 tie with less than two seconds left to give the Junior Canadiens a 4-3 win and a 3-1 series lead on Wellington. Connor Hunt, Cory Jewitt and William Mitchell scored for the Dukes who outshot Toronto 39-32. Wellington now faces elimination when they host Game 5 Saturday at 4pm at Lehigh Arena.
In Stouffville, Kyloe Ellis scored the game winner and series clincher as the Trenton Golden Hawks pulled out a 4-3 win over the Spirit to complete the sweep. Ellis’s goal came with less than two seconds left in regulation.
He didn’t see the puck go in the net.
Barret Joynt, Taeo Artichuk and David Fournier completed the scoring for the Golden Hawks.
Trenton gets a little time before Round 2. They don’t know who they will play next.
