An 18-year-old from Cobourg has been charged after an arrest during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.
On Saturday, around 11:55 p.m., Northumberland OPP were conducting a RIDE spot check on Division Street in Cobourg when a vehicle approached and stopped.
Police then went into an investigation that led to the seizure of approximately 12 grams of suspected cocaine.
Eighteen-year-old Jacob Sutherland of Cobourg was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Driver fail to surrender licence.
The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
