Prince Edward County is preparing ahead of April’s upcoming solar eclipse.
During Tuesday’s upcoming council meeting, council will receive a report from staff about the total eclipse and preparations being made by municipal staff for the event.
While the county isn’t hosting any special viewing events of their own, local businesses have been using the eclipse to promote tourism and visits to Prince Edward County.
Plans to manage expected crowds include additional staffing at municipal buildings, temporary signage for traffic control, and temporary portable restroom facilities where crowds are expected.
The path of total eclipse, where the moon will completely obscure the sun, will pass over Prince Edward County, offering a once in a lifetime view to county residents and guests. The eclipse will begin on April 8 at 2:08 p.m. and last until 4:33 p.m. The total eclipse will be visible at 3:21.
