Mayor Neil Ellis will lead a delegation of approximately 10 people to Belleville’s sister city of Gunpo, South Korea next month.
Belleville and Gunpo have been sister cities since 1996 and there have been a number of exchange visits between the communities.
“Gunpo is more of an economic trip. We are going over April 17, coming back on the 25th. And we’ll do a lot of tours of factories and things and what they’re setting up.”
Ellis says one Korean company is operating in Belleville’s industrial park but more would be welcome.
“We basically look at new things to do and new manufacturing and I know Korea’s expanding so you know if we could get something on the plate it would be great.”
Ellis says each delegate is paying their own way.
