The Utica Comets defeated the Belleville Sens 3-2 on Saturday night.
Josh Currie and Igor Sokolov scored for the Senators.
The Senators opened scoring with an unanswered first period goal after 14 minutes of play. The Comets evened the score in the second, but the Sens came back to take the lead once again before the period ended. The third frame saw the Comets come back with a vengeance, grabbing two unanswered goals to take the lead, and the game.
Belleville Senators head coach Dave Bell wasn’t happy with the team’s performance.
“It stinks. At this time of the year, playing a team that’s chasing you, you’ve got to get that point and hopefully two,” said Coach Bell. “There’s no consolation prize, but there were great efforts by some guys and I thought Leevi was really, really good, But, we lost and at this time of year you’ve got to get points.”
The B-Sens are back in action on Wednesday, in a rematch with the Utica Comets.
