It wasn’t pretty but the Trenton Golden Hawks took game one of the their East Conference best of seven against the Stouffville Spirit last night 4 to 2.
In a penalty-filled game the G-Hawks outshot the Spirit 42 to 28 but also took more penalty minutes, 22 to Stouffville’s 18.
The Spirit were unable to convert on any of their six power play opportunities.
Scoring for Trenton were Ben Pickell, Adam O’Marra, Matthew Lee, and Luke Hempel.
The game was played in front of 720 fans in Trenton.
Game two is Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in Stouffville.
